Ignas Šoliūnas – Erase for Prosperity?
This album is built upon the principles of magnetic tape composition. Drawing inspiration from the roots of American minimalism — including giants such as Terry Riley, La Monte Young, Charlemagne Palestine, and Steve Reich — it also resonates with the rising voices of post-minimalism like Kali Malone and Ellen Arkbro.
Originally performed last year as an audiovisual dance piece produced by Bloom Theory Theatre, an interdisciplinary contemporary theatre group, this year the composer focuses solely on the music. On stage you will see a modular synthesizer system, a reel-to-reel tape machine, a pair of keyboard synthesizers — and when you close your eyes, you’ll be immersed in a weightless state.
“Slowly pulsing synthesizers create vast sonic landscapes that gently fill the listener’s entire field and hold them there until the final second.” — Pasigarsink, Dovydas Pėkus
Ignas Šoliūnas is an electroacoustic composer who earned his master’s degree in composition from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. His work spans drone, contemporary, and improvised music. Šoliūnas strives to transport listeners into a state of weightlessness — inviting them to forget the heaviness of both body and mind. His compositions explore structured improvisation and draw on the forms of American minimalism and post-minimalism, tailored with precision to today’s musical language. His pieces reveal a delicate yet complex harmony between analog electronic instruments and acoustic sounds.
Domantas Pūras – Like an Underground River
Like an Underground River is the debut double album by composer Domantas Pūras, weaving together soundscapes of organ and electronics shaped by the influences of drone and ambient music. The composition pays homage to M. K. Čiurlionis, reinterpreting his harmonic language and threading it into a slow-unfolding sonic narrative.
Recorded in three acoustically distinct spaces — the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, St. Casimir’s Church in Vilnius, and the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre — the album offers an immersive listening experience. Meditative calmness and dissonant intensity alternate, while resonant, multilayered textures invite listeners to explore the fusion of past and present.
“With Like an Underground River, Pūras honors his roots and charts a course for the future of electroacoustic music, inviting us to listen deeply to history, art, and the ever-flowing river of sound.” — Nick, The Third Eye
For this tour, Domantas Pūras has adapted the album for a live electronic music performance using analog synthesizers.
Natas Kunas – Radiant Blue, Hollow Static
A live reinterpretation of Blue Radiance, the debut album by Natas Kunas, this performance drifts between ghostly echoes of studio recordings and the new shapes hidden within them. Modular synthesizer textures, ephemeral sonic landscapes, and resynthesized material from the original album collide in evolving forms.
Natas Kunas is a composer and performer of electronic music, as well as a creator of film and theatre soundtracks. His work, marked by rich timbral textures and atmospheric density, explores the plasticity and dynamism of sound. Kunas reflects on themes such as the natural environment, deep time, and pollution through his immersive sonic language.
