École Grégorienne (France) | Vêpres de sainte Lucie: La plus longue nuit

At the festival’s opening concert “Vêpres De Sainte-Lucie – The Longest Night,” the École Grégorienne, led by French literary scholar and Gregorianist Bruno de Labriolle, will present the Parisian landscape of Catholic music: Gregorian chant, Renaissance and Baroque fauxbourdon, traditional hymns, and litanies.
The concert will be accompanied by the story of Saint Lucy’s martyrdom (in English), narrated by actress Vinora Epp (France/USA).

Singers: Julie Briot, Soizic Drogueux, Bruno de Labriolle, Laurynas Adamonis
Director: Bruno de Labriolle

The École Grégorienne ensemble was founded in 2019 in Lyon, France, with the purpose of singing evening prayer (vespers) at the Church of Saint-Bruno-des-Chartreux. Its aim is to bridge weekly liturgical practice, musicological research, and living oral traditions. The ensemble is led by Bruno de Labriolle, who has been immersed in Gregorian chant since childhood and studied with Marcel Pérès and Dom Daniel Saulnier. He also seeks to promote appreciation for medieval music and improvisational practices through social media—the ensemble’s Instagram account currently has over 100,000 followers.
