On June 13, during Culture Night, the Samuel Bak Museum will present a staged excerpt from the play “Rope” at 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM.
This tense psychological thriller is inspired by the real-life case of Richard Loeb and Nathan Leopold. The script is based on Patrick Hamilton’s play Rope, as well as Alfred Hitchcock’s film adaptation. The piece explores the nature of violence, the manipulation of ideas, and the philosophical relativity of morality – themes that resonate deeply in today’s world.
One-act performance.
The story unfolds in real time, within a single room, where two murderers hide a body in a chest and host a party for the victim’s loved ones and their former philosophy teacher, Rupert. What follows is an intense cat-and-mouse psychological game that gradually reveals the murderers’ motives and intellectual ambitions.
