An experiential nature walk: exploring the relationship with oneself, nature, and the bond in between
We already know and experience how much nature gives to our wellbeing — physically, emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually. But in this gathering, I invite you to look at this relationship as a two-way connection.
Just like in any other relationship — it’s important not only to receive, but also to give.
What can we give back to nature? What values and behaviors could we cultivate so that nature also receives from us — not only gives?
I believe these questions are especially important today — not just for nature, but for ourselves as an inseparable continuation of it.
This experience will invite you into a poetic, mythological, somatic, ecological connection — being in nature, with yourself, and in relationship with the living world around you.
Almost four years ago, while observing the shifts in my own relationship with my body, emotions, and nature, I started deeper explorations. While writing my first text based on Norse mythology, I came across researcher Lindsey Branham’s study on how interoception — the ability to sense internal bodily sensations — fosters a safe emotional connection with nature, encouraging nature-friendly behaviors and holistic wellbeing (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39268373/).
This walk was later presented at the 6th International Congress ISFT Forest and Its Potential for Health (2024) in Druskininkai, explored further in Trondheim (NO) and the University of Oslo (2024), and most recently introduced during a workshop with Dr. Dan Siegel in Oslo (2025).
While I prepare a version tailored for the Lithuanian context, this summer I invite you to a short Scandinavian-inspired nature experience in Vilnius — to meet yourself and nature in connection through somatic practices, storytelling, poetry, and embodied therapeutic presence.
