Pontus Carron is one of Sweden’s most sought-after pianists. He has won numerous awards and prizes, including a silver medal at the Nordic International Piano Competition in 2019, a gold medal at the Stockholm International Music Competition, and a silver medal at Sweden’s most prestigious classical music competition. In 2020, he received the Soloist Prize, as well as awards from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, the Grand Lodge of Sweden, the Ekero Culture Prize, and the “John Andersson in Anderslöv” Foundation.
In recent years, he has successfully collaborated with Sweden’s most prestigious orchestras, including the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Malmö Symphony Orchestra, the Gävle Symphony Orchestra, and the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, conducted by such maestros as Ruth Reinhardt, Johannes Gustavsson, Emil Eliasson, Tobias Ringborg, and Mei-Ann Chen.
Pontus is also active as a chamber music performer. He has performed at several major Scandinavian festivals with “Quartetto di Cremona”, Marko Ylönen, Jakob Koranyi, and Vertavo Quartetn, and has received the highest ratings in two major Swedish chamber music competitions – Young and Promising 2019 (1st prize) and the Swedish International Duo Competition 2017 (2nd prize) in a duo with cellist Kristina Winiarski.
Pontus is very interested in contemporary music and has collaborated with composers such as Benjamin Staern, Henning Ullen, and Molly Kien.
Pontus’ interpretations were recorded by “European Gramophone”, and he has performed live on Swedish radio and television.
