The origins of “In Black and White“ date back to 2009, when LMTA professor Petras Geniušas gave a recital and performed the music of L. van Beethoven in Vilnius’ Lukiškių Square during the Culture Night festival. In 2011, young pianists – the most talented students and graduates of the LMTA, whose solo performances still form the basis of the piano music marathon programme – joined the project.
The Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, an institution of higher education that cherishes a deep tradition of piano music performance, presents a unique two-part project “In Black and White” as part of the the Culture Night programme. This project features performances by talented young pianists, winners of international competitions, from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. And finally, at midnight, a well known pianist Petras Geniušas will present a unique programme of his own called “Senses and Feelings”. His performance will be steeped in improvisations and compositions from the Romantic era and the 20th as well as 21st centuries.
