The sound of the piano softly reciting the poetry of jazz? Yes, at least when the music of Bill Evans, often referred to as nocturnal jazz, floods the Bernardine Gardens.

Bill Evans is one of the most influential pianists, having earned fame for his sensitive and melodious playing style, subtly combining the elegance of classical music, gentle melancholy and the freedom of improvisation. His works sound like moving, personal stories you feel you want to listen to again and again.

These stories will be told by one of Lithuania’s most talented jazz pianists, Vytautas Straižys. After receiving a Master’s in jazz performance at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, he founded the Downtown Piano Lab music laboratory, and has since earned the wide acclaim of audiences for his mastery and creativity.

The performer is dedicating this concert not only to the jazz legend but to everyone searching for a place to stop: “This music sounds so personal, as if it were written especially for you. An extraordinary effect I invite you to experience”, says Vytautas Straižys.
