If you like jazz, this concert’s for you. If you’re not such a great fan of jazz, after this evening all of that may change, because the Christopher Festival is presenting none other than the Dainius Pulauskas Group! A collective that has been the face of Lithuanian jazz fusion in the world for three decades already. And this time, they have a special programme: you’ll be able to hear original songs by Dainius Pulauskas as well as music by legendary Polish artist Krzysztof Komeda.

While Pulauskas may not need introducing, Komeda might not be as familiar to everyone as he should. He’s a Polish jazz legend, a revolutionary figure in film music, a man who changed the direction of European jazz. What’s more, his name is inseperable from Roman Polanski’s films – do you recall the hypnotising lullaby from Rosemary’s Baby? That’s right – it was by Komeda. His 1965 album Astigmatic is considered among the most important European jazz records to this day.

And now, the Dainius Pulauskas Group will be interpreting this music. A group widely acclaimed by critics, and whose concerts more often take place in Tokyo, London or Washington than Lithuania. In the hands of these music masters, Komeda will take on a totally new sound, while Pulauskas’ original works will remind you why he is titled as one of Europe’s most interesting jazz composers.
