On the third Friday of May, on Children’s Day, let’s meet at the Vingis Park stage and all together go on the “Walk for a Safe Childhood”. The hike, which will start at 11 a.m. on May 16, is an opportunity to foster mutual connection under the open sky. Children of all ages are invited to gather with their parents, relatives, teachers and classmates and spend the festive Children’s Day Friday meaningfully walking and bonding. The goal of this hike is to foster the bond between families, encourage children to communicate with each other in person, and spend more time in nature.
Along with children, parents and teachers will also hike child rights defenders, Lithuanian Scouts, Lithuanian police officers, representatives of ministries and municipalities, individual enthusiasts and everyone else – from the youngest to the oldest.
The hike is accessible to everyone, as the distance can be chosen from one, two, three, four or five kilometers. All routes are adapted for people with mobility disabilities, parents carrying children in strollers, seniors and all other participants. The distance can be covered by walking or rollerblading, cycling, scootering. The most important thing is to do it together!
During the event, you will be able to learn knot tying, map reading, and orienteering tricks with the Lithuanian Scouts. We will also invite you to spin the wheel of fortune and win useful prizes at the “Vaikai yra vaikai” stand. After the hike, the Lithuanian Scouts will treat the participants to porridge cooked over a campfire and tea.
