Bill Evans was a genius master of lyricism and intimacy, who’s work changed the entire language of jazz piano. His music breathes melancholic elegance, delicate harmony, and gentle experimentation, subtly combining the aesthetics of classical music with free improvisation.

Vytautas Straižys dedicates this concert not only to the musical legend, but also to every listener who is looking for a space to stop, listen and discover themselves through the harmony of silence and music. This is an evening when each piece becomes a personal experience, a story and a confession. Vytautas Straižys is a pianist whose music transcends time and style. He improved his skills at the M.K. Čiurlionis School of Arts and earned the master’s degree in jazz from the prestigious Royal Conservatory in the Netherlands. His unique artistic voice stems from his ability to combine virtuosity with complex harmony and masterful improvisation, inspired by grand jazz artists such as Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, and Herbie Hancock, as well as classical composers Sergei Rachmaninoff and Claude Debussy. These influences merge into a refined style in which jazz improvisation blends with the harmonic depth and impressionistic color palette of classical music, creating a musical journey that captivates listeners from the very first notes. Vytautas’ musical palette is extremely broad: he also sings, plays percussion instruments, constantly initiates new projects with the most talented Lithuanian and foreign musicians, and boldly explores various musical styles and genres.
