The main program of the international Vilnius Mama Jazz festival on Friday will feature internationally acclaimed jazz virtuosos.
Jones Jones (US, LT)
Sound dialogues invented right in front of your eyes, transcend the boundaries of conventional music. Festival Ambassador, drummer Vladimir Tarasov, double bassist Mark Dresser, and saxophonist Larry Ochs – a trio that does not have one leader, only spontaneous, elemental, thrilling, meditative explorations of three musical hearts. Powerful virtuosos of improvisation create something unique, so there is no doubt that this will be a one-off evening.
Satoko Fujii Tokyo Trio (JP)
Satoko Fujii is a Japanese pianist, a composer and one of the most creative and original jazz figures of today, who has released more than 100 albums! The leader of five orchestras in the US, Germany and Japan, is called “the Ellington of free jazz.”
Fujii will perform with one of her latest projects – an atypical piano jazz trio respectful of jazz traditions. Bassist Takashi Sugawa, drummer Ittetsu Takemura, and pianist Satoko Fujii instantly feel each other’s pulse on stage and share a passion for musical adventure.
