WELCOME to PUZIONIS – A Two-Part Performance Based on Vaižgantas’ Novella “Nebylys”

Vaižgantas’ “Nebylys” is one of the most multi-layered works in Lithuanian literature, portraying the complex dualism of the human spiritual and sensual world, and the relationship between a person and their own nature. Passion reaches the deepest layers of this nature, where destructive, “satanic” tendencies also reside. Vaižgantas explores various forms of love — from platonic, childlike, brotherly, spiritual, to physical, passionate, animalistic, sinful, and ruinous. Written almost a hundred years ago, this novella intrigued us with its paradoxical “irrelevant relevance.” This paradox inspired the creation of the performance Welcome to Puzionis at the theatre studio “Palėpė.”
