In memoriam Prof. Leopoldas Digrys

Having farewelled Lithuania’s patriarch of the organ this winter, the initiator of the Sacred Music Hours – Prof. Leopoldas Digrys, the first chords of this concert cycle are dedicated in his memory.

One of the Maestro’s most beloved works will be played – Francis Poulenc’s Concerto for Organ, Strings and Timpani in G Minor. This is an emotionally moving, neo-Baroque composition inspired by the composer’s strong religious experiences. It will be performed by the Maestro’s long-standing colleague Renata Marcinkutė Lesieur, along with the chamber music ensemble Musica Humana.

The Maestro’s legacy is certainly alive, so let us enjoy its continuity amid the grandeur of the organ’s resonance!

Programme features F. Poulenc, S. Barber, G. F. Händel
