OLGA YEFREMOVA (organ, Ukraine)
Duration:
60 min.
Carpathian Frescoes is a title that immediately arouses one’s imagination. So too does this evening’s programme, akin to a mountain landscape painted through sounds, in which the grandeur of nature and man’s inner world unite. You’ll hear works from different epochs, of different moods and emotional scales, yet they are all about searching, recognition and existence.
Olga Yefremova is one of Ukraine’s most prominent organists who has given around a thousand solo concerts, is regularly invited to prestigious European organ festivals and is teaching and inspiring a new generation of organists. Her repertoire ranges from Baroque to contemporary music, yet she imparts each work with a unique sound and emotional depth.
At the centre of attention of this programme is Ukrainian composer Lesya Dychko’s work Carpathian Frescoes, which also inspired the title of the concert. It is a musical vision embodying the silence of the mountains, their majesty, and man’s longing gaze up to their peaks.
Be prepared not just to listen but to truly stop. The notes echoing down from the mountains invite us to hear that which gets lost in the whirlwind of daily life.
Programme features L. Dychko, R. Schumann, L. Vierne and others
