Hailed by North German Radio (NDR) as “the new star of piano performance,” pianist Anna Geniušienė has been captivating the classical music world for several years now. In 2022, the renowned American music publication Musical America, known for its long-standing traditions, named her “Young Artist of the Month,” praising her powerful sound and striking musical personality.
This June, she will perform at the prestigious Elbphilharmonie — and will bring the very same diverse program, dedicated to the art of transcription, to the Organum concert hall.
Her repertoire spans a wide historical range, from early Handel to works of the 20th century. The program features two opera adaptations by Franz Liszt, alongside six solemn chorale preludes by Johannes Brahms, masterfully arranged for piano by Italian composer Ferruccio Busoni, one of the leading figures of early modernist transcription. The recital will conclude with Igor Stravinsky’s The Firebird — a dazzling showpiece of pianistic virtuosity, transcribed from the colorful orchestral score by Italian pianist Guido Agosti.
