OMD’s Summer Of Hits

On August 26, British synth-pop pioneers Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD) will perform at Lukiškės Prison 2.0 in Vilnius. Classics such as “Electricity”, “Enola Gay”, “Souvenir”, “Maid of Orleans”, “Locomotion”, “So in Love” and “Sailing On The Seven Seas” established OMD as one of the defining bands of the 1980s and inspired artists including Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Moby, Radiohead and Arcade Fire.

OMD was formed in Liverpool in 1978, when Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys united their passion for electronic music and the work of Kraftwerk, Brian Eno and David Bowie. Their debut single “Electricity” led to their first record deal, while “Enola Gay” became the song that launched the band to international success.

With the addition of Martin Cooper and Malcolm Holmes, OMD’s classic line-up was complete. Their landmark album *Architecture & Morality*, featuring “Maid of Orleans”, “Joan of Arc” and “Souvenir”, remains one of the band’s most celebrated releases, while later albums produced hits including “Locomotion”, “So in Love”, “If You Leave” and “Sailing On The Seven Seas”.

After a decade-long hiatus, OMD reunited in 2006 and released the critically acclaimed album *Bauhaus Staircase* in 2023. Over nearly five decades, the band has sold more than 40 million records worldwide and remains one of the true pioneers of electronic pop music.
