On January 16, 2027, at 20:00, Maestro Vladas Bagdonas will take the stage of the live music club “Tamsta” in Vilnius for the second year in a row to celebrate his birthday with a solo concert.
On the evening of his birthday, the Artist will present his most beautiful songs in the programme “Bagdoniškų Dainų Vakaras”. What songs will he perform, how will they sound today, what new colours will they acquire after the dust of time has been blown away, and what does Vladas Bagdonas write and sing about today? This is a secret that will be revealed only during the one and only concert on January 16.
Maestro will be joined on stage by composer Audrius Balsys (keyboards).
Since the 1970s, Vladas Bagdonas has embodied legendary roles on the Lithuanian stage, including Daukantas, Pirosmani, Othello, Faust and Zorba, and has worked with directors such as Dalia Tamulevičiūtė, Jonas Vaitkus and Eimuntas Nekrošius. Music has often gone hand in hand with acting throughout his life – during his studies and later while working with composers Vygantas Telksnys and Alvydas Jegelevičius.
However, when speaking about his musical performances, V. Bagdonas tends to joke: “I’m not a musician, I’m an artist playing a concert.”
In 2017, Maestro released his album of original songs “Liekantiems būti”, followed in 2020 by the compilation album “Medžio degimas”. In 2025, his latest album “Bėk, Bagdonai, bėk” was released in both CD and LP formats.
