Rarely Heard Musical Pearls by Verdi | Listening Session

In addition to the most famous operas by Giuseppe Verdi, which are often performed, he left behind many musical pearls. Moreover, some performances of rarely heard works can also be called pearls. The evening is dedicated to discovering the lesser-known musical heritage of the great opera master.

Programme consultant – Doctor of Art History, Professor at the Kyiv University of Arts – Valerii Panasiuk (Ukraine), who will share brief comments in Russian.

During the listening session, works from the following G. Verdi operas will be played:

• “Nabucco”
• “I Lombardi”
• “Ernani”
• “Macbeth”
• “I Masnadieri”
• “Il Corsaro”

Important: this is not a concert, but an “Arčiau muzikos” event. The music will be played from recordings using high-quality equipment.

ARČIAU MUZIKOS – these are evenings of meetings with music in different formats, dedicated to attentive listening and a deeper understanding of music. Some of them are led by interesting “companions” – musicologists, musicians, music lovers and other people knowledgeable in their fields, who invite participants to become more closely acquainted with the musical culture of a particular genre, composer, instrument, performer or country. In other meetings, music from recordings becomes the main focus of the evening – this is listening to music according to a pre-prepared programme. We listen to high-quality recordings played from vinyl records or high-resolution digital files – this allows us to experience the specific emotional content, appreciate the nuances of the performance and immerse ourselves in the depths of this music.
