Poetry and Music Performance “Through Open Windows” #2

The unique courtyard of the Signatories’ House opens again to poetry and music. We invite everyone to listen to the synthesis of poetry and sound through open windows!

On June 12th, Thursday, poets Donatas Petrošius, Mantas Toločka, and Justina Žvirblytė will read their poems, accompanied by musical compositions and improvisations by Algis Fediajevas.

Which window will open? You’ll see when you arrive at 7:00 PM, Pilies St. 26.
What if it rains? We’ll move to the Štralis Event Hall.

The event is free!

Organizers: Literary festival “Poetinis Druskininkų ruduo”, Signatories’ House, Lithuanian National Museum.
The festival activities are funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.

Meet the event participants:

  • Mantas Toločka – poet, humanist, literary critic, and the soul of the “Kernagis” bar. He debuted in 2019 with the poetry book “Popierinė”. He admires the classical tradition and is currently writing a new poetry book “Hektoro kūnas”, from which he promises to read a manuscript.

  • Justina Žvirblytė – biochemistry PhD student and scientist. In 2023, she won the “First Book” contest, resulting in her debut poetry book “Mikrosfera”, for which she was awarded the Ministry of Culture’s “Debut of the Year” award in 2024.

  • Donatas Petrošius – poet, essayist, translator, born in 1978 in Tauragė. He studied Lithuanian philology and philosophy at Vilnius Pedagogical University. During his studies, he released his poetry collection “iš tvermės D”, for which he was awarded the “Poetinis Druskininkų ruduo” Young Jotvingis Prize in 2004. His second poetry collection “Aoristas” was published in 2009, followed by an essay collection “Kaip negalima gyventi” in 2014. His works have been translated into almost 20 languages. Currently, he edits, translates, volunteers at the Lithuanian Writers’ Union Literature Fund, collecting funds and actively supporting Ukraine. He writes.

  • Algis Fediajevas – creator of acoustic psychedelic music, philosopher, teacher, and traveler. He walks on unique, untrodden paths – listeners are first drawn to his innovative, original, and virtuoso acoustic guitar playing (with no electronic effects, the guitar produces unusual sounds and timbres – wavering, swaying, and screeching). His songs unpredictably flow – sometimes calmly and meditatively, other times turning into aggressive punk bursts. All of this is filled with autumn melancholy, shamanic, and Eastern harmonies. This is psychedelia – at times harmonious, leading into idyllic distances, sometimes dark, revealing the harsher, painful sides of the world, never avoiding the dirt and not trying to sound sterile. Algis Fediajevas has released four solo albums, and his latest album was accompanied by tours in the United Kingdom, Finland, Central Europe, and Germany.
