Lorita Tamulevičiūtė’s “Light of Being”: Between Landscape and Abstraction

From August 26, the LPC Art Gallery will present a painting exhibition by artist Lorita Tamulevičiūtė, “Light of Being”. The artist invites visitors to see nature not only as a landscape, but also as a reflection of human emotions, moods, and inner experiences.

Lorita Tamulevičiūtė primarily creates outdoors and during plein-air sessions, where open spaces, distant horizons, changing light, and colours inspire the mood of each work.

“I enjoy creating in nature and during plein-air sessions, where there is plenty of space and the horizon stretches into the distance. I observe nature in different seasons, its moods and light, and interpret it in my own way. I look for distinctive colour combinations,” says L. Tamulevičiūtė.

In “Light of Being”, realistic views of nature meet abstract compositions, bringing together colour, line, rhythm, recognisable landscapes, and the emotions they evoke. The exhibition features oil and acrylic paintings, revealing the artist’s broad creative range – from concrete natural motifs to abstract works inspired by them.

Lorita Tamulevičiūtė graduated from the Justinas Vienožinskis Art School and, in 1991, from the Vilnius Academy of Arts, where she studied fine arts. For 24 years, she worked in art education and teaching and is an active professional artist.

Since 2016, she has been a member of the Secret Society of Drawers. Her ongoing studies of the human body have opened another field of artistic exploration.

Since 2022, L. Tamulevičiūtė has been a member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association and belongs to its Watercolour Section.

She has held eight solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous group exhibitions and plein-air events in Lithuania and abroad.
