In May and June, the Lithuanian Filmmakers’ Union is organizing a film program titled “A Journey of Lithuanian Literature to Cinema: The History of Adaptations.” The program includes a series of film screenings and discussions presenting Lithuanian literary adaptations, covering both the Soviet era and the independence period.
On May 27 at 6:00 PM, we will screen the film “Games of Adults” (directed by Ilja Rud-Gercovskis, Algimantas Kundelis, Marijonas Giedrius, 1967). “Games of Adults” is a two-part film anthology based on Algirdas Pocius’s story “Collapse” and Raimondas Kašauskas’s story “Games of Adults.” The film humorously explores male and female flirtations. The screening will be introduced by film critic Rasa Paukštytė.
Both stories are connected by the character of the driver Bronis. The legendary duo of actors Remigijus Adomaitis and Eugenija Pleškytė delve into the timeless theme of communication (or miscommunication) between men and women, gracefully conveying the naively cunning side of human nature and the contradictions of different expectations. The film is based on Algirdas Pocius’s “Collapse” and Raimondas Kašauskas’s “Games of Adults.”
