Contemporary Circus Festival HELIUM

After a two-year break, the contemporary circus festival HELIUM returns on September 10–20, inviting audiences to explore time – its acceleration, slowing down, and those moments when it seems to stop completely…

Four carefully selected works by international contemporary circus artists will offer a variety of experiences where opposites meet: fragility and strength, tension and calm, magic and everyday life, gravity and levitation.

This year’s festival will also spotlight Lithuanian premieres. TEATRONAS will present its interpretation of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales, while TAIGI CIRKAS will present not only a performance exploring what happens when everything we are used to becomes uncontrollable, but also the installation THIS IS NOT A DEATH SCENE, which will be on display in the foyer of the Arts Printing House throughout the festival.

The festival programme will also feature the educational programmes YOUNG CRITIC and Scenos konTEKSTAI. Those with experience in movement on stage will be invited to take part in micro-acrobatics workshops, while a discussion will bring together those eager to share their thoughts on contemporary circus as an art form.
