King Mindaugas Picnic by the Neris River

On the evening of Sunday, July 6, the Lithuanian national anthem Tautiška giesmė will be sung by Lithuanians across the globe — and in Vilnius, we’ll sing it by the Neris River!

To mark Statehood Day and the National Anthem Day, the capital will host the “King Mindaugas Picnic” — it was on this very date in 1253 that Mindaugas, the first and only King of Lithuania, was crowned. Residents of Vilnius and visitors, let’s celebrate this special day together — this year, the main location for the celebration and national anthem singing in Vilnius will be the Neris riverbank between the Žirmūnai and King Mindaugas bridges (Olimpiečių St. 17).

Starting at 4 PM, live music will be waiting for you at the “King Mindaugas Picnic,” featuring DJ Mamania, Justė Kraujelytė x domibu, Kyla Vėjas!, and Žygimantas Gudelis-GON with Beat Bitela. Picnickers will also enjoy fun activities and leisure entertainment organized by the Vilnius Public Health Bureau “Vilnius sveikiau.” If you run out of snacks during the picnic, various food trucks will be available, and “Vilniaus vandenys” will offer refreshing water-based cocktails. Joining the celebration will be the Mayor of Vilnius, the President of the Republic of Lithuania, and the President of the Federal Republic of Germany — what are your plans?

Public transport in Vilnius will be FREE on July 6 and will operate according to the Sunday schedule. Ticket validators on buses and trolleybuses will be blocked, and no ticket validation will be required. The “King Mindaugas Picnic” is organized by the Vilnius City Municipality and the Vilnius Culture Center.

Photography and filming will take place during the event, and the material will be used for publicity purposes.
