On September 3rd, DOWNTOWN PIANO LAB will launch its new concert season with a special evening dedicated to one of the most influential jazz artists of all time—saxophone legend John Coltrane, whose 100th birth anniversary is being celebrated by the entire music world this year.
Coltrane’s music is an endless journey, ranging from lyrical ballads to improvisations brimming with freedom, intensity, and spiritual exploration. His work transformed the history of jazz, and albums such as *Blue Train*, *Giant Steps*, and *A Love Supreme* continue to inspire musicians and listeners across generations.
On stage:
Rokas Jaunius – tenor saxophone
Vytautas Straižys – piano
Aliaksei Kryshtal – double bass
Augustas Baronas – drums
The program will feature legendary compositions, sensitive ballads, and energetic improvisations, blending respect for the originals with the musicians’ vibrant, contemporary interpretations.
This event will be more than just a concert; it marks the symbolic start of the new DOWNTOWN PIANO LAB season—an evening filled with jazz freedom, unexpected musical dialogues, and the exceptional energy of live performance.
And after the concert, a surprise awaits: an open jam session where the music and improvisation will continue. So, the evening certainly won’t end early!
The *Dainykla* project is partially funded by the Vilnius City Municipality.
