“Trio El Grey” is the latest project by renowned Lithuanian saxophonist, composer, and arranger Leonardas Pilkauskas. This contemporary jazz group brings together three distinct musical personalities to create a unique, fresh, and stylistically bold sonic landscape. The trio’s music fuses complex compositions, spontaneous improvisation, rhythmic diversity, and emotional intensity.
Leonardas Pilkauskas – a vivid saxophonist, arranger, and one of the leading figures in contemporary Lithuanian jazz – leads with his melodic line, forming the core of “Trio El Grey’s” musical language. Bassist Gediminas Stepanavičius and drummer Tuomas J. Räsänen add richness, rhythm, and experimental energy to the compositions, blending jazz, R&B, and electronic elements.
Founded in 2024 by the Lithuanian Musicians’ Union, the nighttime concert marathon festival “Nessun Dorma… No One Sleeps…” presents chamber music and jazz programs by Lithuanian performers. Each night of the event, starting at 9 PM, features “Serenades” (classical music), followed by “Jazz Nights” at 11 PM. The aim is to keep Vilnius residents and visitors engaged and entertained through the long summer evenings with vibrant live music.
Held in the cozy and community-oriented Music Lounge, these events continue a long-standing tradition of Lithuanian musical life. Direct interaction with the audience – including opportunities to ask questions – helps deepen the connection to both the music and the performers. The Music Lounge is further enriched by the presence of a piano once played by Saulius Sondeckis, adding a special charm. Every concert by professional performers becomes a luxurious experience, as the sounds unfold in a beautifully resonant space, enhanced by stunning overtones.
