Immersive theatre performance “Kolonija Antika”

“Kolonija Antika” is an immersive theatre performance in which the boundaries between the audience and the performance disappear.

“Kolonija Antika” is a site specific, immersive theatre performance where audiences move freely through the two wings of a former prison, now converted into a culture hub. The experience relies on movement, atmosphere and sensation and is accessible to audiences regardless of what language they speak.

Inspired by ancient Greek myths, live performance slowly unfolds in space. Sound, light, scent and scenography create a mysterious and cinematic world that reveals itself, exposing today’s anxieties, desires, fears and power struggles.

The immersive performance explores social collapse, survival and human behaviour. As the characters build a new community, they pose a question to audiences: which values, traditions and ideas from the old world are worth carrying into the new? Each viewer has a different and unique experience, shaped by their own choices and movement through the space.

“Kolonija Antika” is the latest immersive work by director Paulius Markevičius and theatre company “Tolyn gilyn”. In 2024 “Tolyn gilyn” received Lithuanian National Theatre award for its immersive performance “Café Existans”.
