Valerio Galadini, a young Italian composer representing modern trends, will present his original approach to composing music using electroacoustic tools. The method he is developing, which involves the synthesis of ambient sounds and musical elements, is called “Sonadec”. Valerio will encourage a reassessment of the sonic environment around us, raising questions about its musicality and inviting us to reflect on how digital technologies affect our contemporary perception of reality.
“Since the early 1970s, when soundscape composition emerged at Simon Fraser University in Canada and began to spread throughout the global electroacoustic academic community, electronic and digital technologies such as the iPod and the Internet have reshaped our sonic environments. They have transformed the nature of reality in ways that can be described, borrowing a term from French sociologist Jean Baudrillard, as hyperreality”, – says V. Galadini.
The composer’s album Encoded Invitation (2024) is available on YouTube and Spotify, and you can hear what the music really sounds like and have a discussion with the composer (in English) at the Closer to the Music event at the Music Magic Club on 28th of May.
