From June 10, residents of Vilnius and visitors to the city are invited to a new exhibition at the M. K. Čiurlionis House.
Reproductions of M. K. Čiurlionis’s works will invite visitors to hear the chromatic and architectural moods that echo through his paintings, opening a symbolic window into the spirit of the city.
Čiurlionis approached the theme of the city in a unique and deeply personal way. Like nature, urban motifs served as a source of neo-romantic and symbolist visions. With the soul of a romantic and the eye of a symbolist, he never abandoned his painterly dreams or his philosophical reflections through architectural imagery. For Čiurlionis, the city was a dreamlike, mysterious, or even haunting place inhabited by the spirit of eternity.
