European Museum Night 2025

EUROPEAN NIGHT OF MUSEUMS has been taking place since 2005. It is initiated and organized annually by the French Ministry of Culture and the French Museums and Information and Communication Services, in cooperation with the International Council of Museums (ICOM). EMN is under the patronage of UNESCO, the Council of Europe. Every year, museums open their doors to visitors at unusual times and use this time to build connections with communities and involve them in museum activities. Lithuania is successfully participating in the European Night of Museums for the 19th time and attracts large crowds of visitors to museums and other cultural institutions.

In Lithuania, the activities of organizing the European Museum Night events are supervised by the Lithuanian National Committee of the International Council of Museums ICOM and the Lithuanian Museums Association. The aim of the campaign is to invite the public to come to museums and get acquainted with the exhibitions and expositions operating there, to participate in educational activities and other events at a time of day when museums are usually not open. During the campaign, efforts are made to present museum collections and services to various groups of visitors in the most compelling way possible, thus encouraging the public to be more interested in the diverse activities of museums and to visit them more often.

During the promotion, all museum events are free.
