Concert of the Luleå University (Piteå, Sweden) Chamber Choir (conductor E. Westberg)

Luleå University of Technology operates in four Swedish cities. The Faculty of Social Sciences, Technology and Arts is located in the city of Piteå – in the northernmost part of Sweden – where the Chamber Choir has been operating since 1990, led by one of the most prominent Swedish conductors of our time, Erik Westberg.

Erik Westberg is a world-famous, extremely active choirmaster both in his own country and abroad, who has won significant awards in the musical and pedagogical fields. His mastery is also evidenced by the awards he has received: the Swedish Federation of Choir Associations nominated him as the Choir Conductor of the Year; he won the Culture Prize of the Year established by the Municipality of Piteå; he was awarded His Majesty the King’s Medal for “Significant Contribution to Swedish Musical Life”, etc.

During its activity, the choir has held numerous concerts in Europe and the Nordic countries, is a laureate of various competitions, and a participant in festivals.

Soon the choir will go on a concert tour in Latvia and Lithuania, during which listeners will have the opportunity to hear both classical music by Swedish authors and works written especially for the choir.
The concerts will take place:
– May 31st at 6:00 PM at St. Casimir’s Church (Didžioji g. 34, Vilnius);
– June 1st at 1:00 PM at St. Anne’s Church in Vievis (Bažnyčios g. 16, Vievis).
