“Colours of Silence” – Monika Palšauskaitė | Culture Night 2025

“Colours of Silence” is a programme combining the music of two great composers – M. K. Čiurlionis and Olivier Messiaen. Although the two composers have never met, they share many common and colourful links, from spiritual sensitivity to a sense of musical light.

For this project, composer Ben Lunn has composed a miniature prelude, Angelus Domini, dedicated to the connection between these two worlds. The work has not yet been performed in Lithuania, so it will be a small but significant premiere for the audience.

Pianist Monika Palšauskaitė has conceived a cosy and peaceful evening for the programme of Culture Night, full of sacredness and seriousness, but at the same time – warmth, chastity and hope.

During the concert, the lights may be dimmed so that the audience can simply sit with the music.

This concert is part of Culture Night 2025. The event is free of charge and registration is required here.

Monika Palšauskaitė is a Lithuanian-born pianist who received her Doctorate in Performing Arts from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the University of St Andrews in 2024, where she explored new directions in the interpretation of Olivier Messiaen’s piano music. Monika performs extensively as a soloist and chamber musician, collaborates with composers and interdisciplinary artists, and combines music, text and theatre in her work.
