KAROLINA MIKOŁAJCZYK (violin, Poland)
IWO JEDYNECKI (accordion, Poland)
Concert organised together with the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Vilnius and the Polish Institute in Vilnius
From the serenity of the nocturne to the glimmer of Hollywood. A veritable musical rollercoaster ride awaits you with the Karolina Mikołajczyk and Iwo Jedynecki duo.
These performers are the bright shining stars of Poland’s chamber music scene. Prizes won at numerous competitions have opened the doors to the most sought-after music stages – from New York’s Carnegie Hall to Singapore’s Esplanade Concert Hall, while they have garnered the admiration of both the public, who grab up tickets well before performance dates, and the super stars of classical music. Violinist Maxim Vengerov commented on their special ensemble-playing capabilities, calling them “a duo so well-matched that [it] sounds like one instrument”.
And although their composition is not of a traditional duo, this doesn’t stop the performers from erasing the boundaries between genres or styles, subtly combining the tembres of the violin and the accordion into a united, harmonious whole. That means even very familiar music, whether it’s Chopin’s nocturne, Vivaldi’s Summer, or Hollywood’s film melodies, will sound new and intriguing in their hands.
Be prepared for an evening filled with musical discoveries!
