On May 31 at 1:00 PM, a choral music concert will take place at the Vilnius County Adomas Mickevičius Public Library, featuring the VILNIUS TECH academic choir “Gabija” and special guests from Norway – the chamber choir “Vox Humana.”
“Vox Humana” is a chamber choir based in Oslo, known for its young voices and big ambitions. Their profile embraces choral art in the broadest sense – they are always striving for higher musical standards and enjoy exploring a wide variety of musical genres. The choir produces its own concert projects and is also invited to perform at various events. At the same time, they aim to maintain a warm and socially vibrant atmosphere within the group, as the singers genuinely enjoy each other’s company.
Each summer, “Vox Humana” tours across Europe, often collaborating with other choirs. In this spring’s concert project, they explore the nature of longing. Inspired by music through the ages, they give voice to many faces of desire: from innocent first love and devotion to obsessive yearning and reckless longing. The songs you’ll hear are selected from this concert program.
The co-creators of “Crossing Borders” – “Gabija”, the VILNIUS TECH university academic choir – have been active for 60 years. For each member, singing in the choir is not just a hobby, but a way of life. “Gabija” regularly participates in concerts, competitions, and festivals, cherishing the joyful and fresh experiences gathered both during performances and rehearsals.
In 2024, “Gabija” took part in a choral festival in Spain, and this year they are preparing a new program for a festival in Berlin. The choir’s youthful spirit is reflected in its diverse repertoire, which includes pieces on a variety of themes – from sacred music to love and even political oppression.
