The interactive contemporary dance performance “Between Walls, Between Bodies” explores the deepest psychological and physical human experiences that arise from an endless struggle with oneself and one’s inner demons.
The choreographer examines themes related to emotional pain, anxiety, tension, and the cost of creativity. This interactive performance invites the audience into a whirlwind of feelings and emotions, where the body and mind confront inevitable fragmentation and battle for control. The play encourages viewers to examine and observe themselves—what they feel, see, and experience.
Here, the body is not merely a tool for dance—it becomes a medium of expression that reflects deep inner pain and pleasure, a struggle with unexpressed emotions, thoughts, and fears. Movements reveal physical tension, pause, and fragility. The performers become instruments through which the agony and passion of creation are revealed, showing how pain and pleasure often go hand in hand.
The soundtrack, with its sharp, twitching sounds, builds emotional tension, while softer, vibrating tones evoke the subtle pleasure of creation. These sounds act as active participants in the storytelling, amplifying the inner confusion and despair experienced by the performers. The lighting—wandering and constantly shifting—reflects the fluctuations of human emotional states. It may be bright and fleeting, illuminating the body and leaving a quick but fragile trace immersing the viewer.
