The sculptural ceramic art installation welcomes hybrid characters with zoomorphic bodies, using their charred or shimmering surfaces as if they were figurative spells, and guiding them into a mythological, fairy-tale, liminal world. By creating surreal, dreamlike and visually fragile figures, the artist awakens the viewer’s imagination, evoking an over-the-top experience, activating the senses for the unexpected. The insect-like “centaurs” grow alien limbs, bird skulls, stare at us with a cold gaze, dive not only out of their shells, but also out of the plants and human organs that become their occupied media, and disappear into the twilight, teeming with life.
The exhibition is part of the creative programme of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association and Arka Gallery. The strategic activities of the organisation are funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.
