On June 13 at 9 PM, a concert by the Vilnius University (VU) Chamber Orchestra titled Musica notturna, organized by the VU Culture Center, will take place at St. John’s Church. The event is part of the “Culture Night” program.
This special musical evening will bring together instrumental music from the Baroque era and the 20th century, highlighting both the contrasts and connections between musical styles separated by over two centuries. The program will feature works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Unico Wilhelm van Wassenaer, Einojuhani Rautavaara, Wojciech Kilar, and Henryk Górecki. One of the concert’s main highlights will be the harpsichord, presented not only as a symbol of the Baroque era but also as a solo instrument in contemporary music, through Górecki’s Concerto for Harpsichord and Strings. This is a unique opportunity to experience a musical dialogue between different eras.
Admission is free.
