On\u00a0September 14 at 2:00 PM<\/strong>, the\u00a0Vilnius Shalom Festival<\/strong>\u00a0invites you to a unique introduction to one of the world’s oldest musical instruments\u2014the shofar.<\/span><\/p>\n

A lecture \u201cThe Art of the Shofar\u201d will be held at the\u00a0Vilnius Jewish Public Library<\/strong>, during which renowned French horn player and shofar virtuoso\u00a0Bar Zemach<\/strong>\u00a0(Israel\/Germany) will introduce the audience to the history of this archaic instrument, its significance in Jewish tradition, and its place in contemporary music.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the event, the guest will talk about the different types of shofars, their manufacture, playing techniques, and their biblical symbolism. Participants will also have the opportunity to hear various shofar calls performed live and learn how this instrument, with a history spanning thousands of years, is heard today in concert halls together with symphony orchestras.<\/span><\/p>\n

The lecture is intended for everyone interested in music, Jewish culture, history, and ancient musical instruments.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vilnius Shalom Festival<\/strong> is the third international festival of Jewish music and culture, held in Lithuanian capital Vilnius, a city often referred to as the Jerusalem of the North.
