Ana Vostruchovait\u0117\u2019s solo exhibition \u201cDigital Garden\u201d opens on August 13 at 7:00 PM at Contour Art Gallery, Vilnius.<\/strong><\/p>\n The exhibition features paintings, plaster reliefs, and jacquard fabrics created specifically for this exhibition. In creating \u201cDigital Garden\u201d, the artist reflected on contemporary life as it exists between physical and virtual spaces: \u201cThe latter is increasingly shaping our perception of the world, our rhythm, and our daily habits. Everyday life is shifting to apps; we experience the world more and more often through a camera lens; we work remotely. Even gardens are becoming digital.\u201d<\/p>\n For the artist, it is not only the image itself that matters, but also its relationship to space. The plants and figures in her works often extend beyond the edges of the canvas, as if seeking to enter the viewer\u2019s space. In her work, the digital experience is transposed into images of nature, transforming our relationship with that which grows and changes at a pace incomparably slower than technology. At the same time, the artist raises questions about our connection to place, our roots, and the creation of a sense of home in today\u2019s world.<\/p>\n Born in Vilnius, Ana Vostruchovait\u0117<\/strong> graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 2019. Her diploma project received both the Academy Rector\u2019s Award and the Stefan Gierowski Award and was presented in the exhibition \u201cComing Out: The Best Academy of Fine Arts Diploma Projects of 2019.\u201d<\/p>\n Living between Vilnius and Warsaw, the artist\u2019s work centers on the question of her own identity. It is fluid, shaped by memory, place, and the experience of being \u201cbetween\u201d different cultures and environments. As a child, the artist was surrounded by the lush nature of Pavilnys. Today, her life is divided between two very different cities, yet Pavilnys remains her inner landscape – a place where languages, cultures, and different identities intersect. This is also the source of one of the most important ideas in her work: identity is not static; it can be consciously created and constantly reimagined. For the artist, this process begins with a connection to nature, place, and her roots.<\/p>\n Ana Vostruchovait\u0117 has presented and participated in solo and group exhibitions in Poland and internationally. Her works are currently also on view at Miejsce Projekt\u00f3w Zach\u0119ty, the project space of Poland\u2019s National Gallery of Art Zach\u0119ta in Warsaw, as part of the exhibition \u201cHouse on Roots\u201d (\u201cDom na korzeniach\u201d). She has also created the public artwork \u201cSteel Roots\u201d for Ostrowiec \u015awi\u0119tokrzyski. Her work has been featured in art publications and exhibition catalogues, including the London-based ArtMaze Mag (Nos. 32\u201333, 2023).<\/p>\n This is the first time Ana Vostruchovait\u0117\u2019s work is being presented in Vilnius.
