To commemorate the 100th anniversary of John Coltrane\u2019s birth at the Magic of Music Club, we will listen to five of his albums\u2014to five steps toward spiritual heights. All of them represent the boldest creative explorations of one of the 20th century\u2019s most important musical innovators, who pushed the boundaries of jazz and improvisational music and opened up new realms of listening.<\/p>\n
Since this is a special occasion, the listening session will be unconventional\u2014all five albums will be played in their entirety, from the first track to the last. We\u2019ll start listening at 4:00 p.m. and finish at 9:00 p.m.<\/p>\n
