Spanning 55 hectares, Europos Parkas open-air museum – frequently called the world\u2019s greenest museum by journalists – invites you to explore the synergy of art and nature.
\nEach season offers a new way to discover Europos Parkas, as the artwork framed by the changing nature creates different impressions.
\nThough many of the exhibits are massive, as if they have “taken root” and settled into the museum’s environment, the Forest of Art is far from static. On the contrary \u2013 it seems to be in constant motion and process. Here, one can observe the uninterrupted dance between nature and art, a continuous conversation in a space that is always changing \u2013 a dialogue between man, nature, and art.
\nThe very first tour, back when the museum\u2019s exhibition consisted of just a single sculpture, took place on October 5, 1991. The sculpture “Symbol of Europos Parkas” by sculptor Gintaras Karosas was the piece around which the artist’s fellow students gathered at that time.
\nEuropos Parkas, over thirty years in age, is the realization of one person’s dream, and today it is a space open to all dreamers. Everyone is invited to embark on a journey through the Forest of Art.<\/p>\n
Europos Parkas is an open-air museum of modern and contemporary art that dates back to 1991, when Lithuania regained independence. It was founded by Gintaras Karosas, a sculptor and the author of the museum\u2019s entire artistic landscape.<\/p>\n
Here, the language of art is used to give meaning to the geographical centre of the continent of Europe as established by the French National Geographic Institute. The artistic landscape is home to more than one hundred installations by artists from different countries of the world.<\/p>\n
Europos Parkas is being developed as a uniform, congruous ensemble of nature and artwork. The expressive relief of the Park, its knolls and dips, pocket ponds, and artwork make an indivisible whole.<\/p>\n
The museum features impressive work by the most prominent contemporary artists such as Magdalena Abakanowicz, Sol LeWitt, Dennis Oppenheim, Beverly Pepper, to name a few. Europos Parkas is also home to the sculpture made from TVs \u2013 a Guinness world record \u2013 as well as the Educational Centre with its sculptural architecture and other pieces of landscape art by Gintaras Karosas.<\/p>\n
