The National Museum \u2013 Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania invites you to a thematic exhibition presenting impressive works of old paintings that have been added to the museum’s collections in 2018\u20132025 \u2013 works acquired from Lithuanian and foreign auctions, antique shops, and private individuals. The museum aims not only to preserve these works, but also to return them to their historical context in Lithuania.<\/p>\n
Portraits make up the largest part of the exhibition. The exhibition presents images of Lithuanian and Polish rulers and representatives of the Wettin dynasty who reigned over the
Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. In addition to rulers, the exhibition also features portraits of Lithuania\u2019s magnates and other historical figures from other European lands, while religious themes are represented by the painting “Saint Casimir in Adoration of the Madonna” by the famous Italian artist Saverio Dalla Rosa and other paintings shrouded in legend.<\/p>\n
To date, the National Museum \u2013 Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania has organized two exhibitions dedicated to newly acquired and donated treasures. This time, the entire exhibition space is devoted to paintings, giving visitors the opportunity to see the paintings that have been added to the museum’s collection in recent years and learn about the stories behind their return.<\/p>\n
