One of today’s most innovative musical projects, Grandbrothers<\/strong>, is coming to Lithuania for the very first time. On 17 October<\/strong>, the internationally acclaimed duo will perform at the Lithuanian National Philharmonic<\/strong> in Vilnius.<\/p>\n

Renowned for their unmistakable sound, Grandbrothers<\/strong> merge the expressive qualities of an acoustic grand piano with cutting-edge technology and live electronic textures. Critics have described them as “architects of sound,”<\/strong> while their concerts have been praised as hypnotic fusions of music, technology, and performance. Their distinctive artistic approach has even been likened to “open-heart surgery on a piano.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

Over more than a decade, Grandbrothers have become one of the leading names in the contemporary classical and electronic music scene. Their music combines minimalist composition, ambient and electronic soundscapes, and the emotional depth often associated with film scores. Listeners can hear echoes of the minimalist traditions of John Cage<\/strong>, Steve Reich<\/strong>, and Philip Glass<\/strong>, alongside creative affinities with artists such as Nils Frahm<\/strong>, Hauschka<\/strong>, and Ludovico Einaudi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The duo has earned international recognition not only for its distinctive musical language but also for its captivating live performances in major concert halls around the world. One of their most celebrated performances was a special ARTE Concert<\/strong> production filmed inside Cologne Cathedral<\/strong>, where the duo transformed the monumental space into an intimate sonic experience. Grandbrothers consists of Erol Sarp<\/strong>, a pianist and composer, and Lukas Vogel<\/strong>, a sound engineer and software developer. Formed in D\u00fcsseldorf<\/strong> in 2011, the duo gained international acclaim by transforming the acoustic grand piano into a remarkably versatile instrument capable of producing textures typically associated with electronic music.<\/p>\n

Rather than relying on digital samples or virtual synthesizers, they developed a custom-built electromechanical system that physically manipulates the piano itself, creating an entirely original sonic palette while preserving the instrument’s acoustic character.<\/p>\n
