Even today, women remain underrepresented in the history of Lithuania and Vilnius. This guided tour therefore seeks to contribute to recognising their contribution to history and the present day.

Here are just a few small hints of what you will hear during the tour:
• What was the name of the first woman mentioned in Lithuanian history?
• What do the latest DNA studies reveal about the cause of Barbora Radvilaitė’s death, and which building in Vilnius contains a coded reference to the discovery of her remains?
• Why were there no women in the Council of Lithuania in 1918?
• Where in Vilnius was the first vegetarian restaurant located, and who owned it?
• How is the Lithuanian National Philharmonic connected to women’s rights?
• Which well-known woman, while imprisoned in Lukiškės prison, boldly asked even to be taken to the sauna?

The tour starts at the King Mindaugas Monument and ends at Lukiškės prison.

The tour will be led by licensed guide Agnė Zakaravičiūtė, who holds master’s degrees in International Relations and Diplomacy, and in Linguistics.

By participating in the tour, you agree that you may be photographed. If you do not wish to be photographed, please inform the guide in advance.

The organiser reserves the right to cancel the tour or change its date due to unforeseen circumstances.
