“Voices of the Cello for Ramut\u0117 Kaln\u0117nait\u0117”: A Jubilee Evening Dedicated to the Cellist and Pedagogue<\/strong><\/p>\n

On June 8, the S. Sondeckis Hall of the National M. K. \u010ciurlionis School of Arts will host a jubilee evening dedicated to cellist, pedagogue, and long-standing participant in Lithuania\u2019s musical life, Ramut\u0117 Kaln\u0117nait\u0117, entitled “Voices of the Cello for Ramut\u0117 Kaln\u0117nait\u0117” (“Violon\u010del\u0117s balsai Ramutei Kaln\u0117naitei”).<\/p>\n

This concert is not only a respectful look back at a rich creative journey, but also a living continuation of musical tradition, bringing together different generations of cellists, stage partners, students, and friends. The evening’s program will feature music from various eras and styles\u2014ranging from lyrical pages of chamber music to spirited, virtuosic opuses. The concert will feature performances by Elena Daunyt\u0117, Katrina Emilie Ligeika, Gabriel\u0117 Dik\u010di\u016bt\u0117, Kristina Zubrickait\u0117, Anastasija Lapkovskaja, Marius Sakavi\u010dius, Teodoras Lip\u010dius, Saulius Lip\u010dius, Julius Jonu\u0161as, Povilas Pauk\u0161t\u0117, Tadas Petrulis, Augustas Gocentas, and other artists.<\/p>\n

A special place in the program will be held by Arvo P\u00e4rt\u2019s Spiegel im Spiegel, David Popper\u2019s Requiem, B\u00e9la Bart\u00f3k\u2019s Romanian Folk Dances, Karl Davydov\u2019s Hymn, and other works that showcase the diverse colors of the cello\u2014from meditative concentration to ensemble vitality. The dramaturgy of the evening will gradually lead to a shared climax of musical fellowship.<\/p>\n

About Ramut\u0117 Kaln\u0117nait\u0117
\nRamut\u0117 Kaln\u0117nait\u0117 was born on June 8, 1956, in Vilnius. From 1964 to 1975, she studied at the National M. K. \u010ciurlionis School of Arts in the cello class of Professor Romanas Armonas, where she won her first laureate titles in national and international competitions. From 1975 to 1980, she studied at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, qualifying as a solo performer, pedagogue, chamber ensemble performer, and orchestral soloist. She later continued her postgraduate studies (assistantship-internship) at the same conservatory in the class of Professor Stefan Kalyanov.
\nUpon returning to Lithuania in 1983, she was invited to work at the National M. K. \u010ciurlionis School of Arts, where she teaches cello and chamber ensemble, actively nurturing young musicians. Her concert career has included performances in Lithuania and abroad\u2014in the Czech Republic, Hungary, France, Switzerland, the USA, and other countries. She has performed with the Lithuanian National and Latvian National Symphony Orchestras, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, and other ensembles, and has participated in international festivals, including the Thomas Mann, Kristupo Vasra and Alternatyvos festivals.
\nIn 2001, R. Kaln\u0117nait\u0117 represented Lithuania at the Mstislav Rostropovich International Cello Festival in Riga. In 2005, she was granted the official status of an Art Creator (meno k\u016br\u0117jas). Since the restoration of the Lithuanian Musicians\u2019 Union, she has been an active member of the organization, and since 2006, a member of the Akademija quartet.
