From the grand dukes to the heroes of modern times, the Samogitian code has left deep and unshakable traces on the streets of the capital. Our rulers – from Mindaugas to Vytautas – built their power based on the loyalty and unbreakable strength of the Samogitians. Even when, in the whirlwind of political games, the Samogitians were repeatedly “mortgaged” to the Crusaders in exchange for the crown, a period of peace or tranquility in the state, they never betrayed their rulers and remained the most loyal force.<\/p>\n
