We invite you to the opening of the exhibition \u201cThe Contrasts of Marku\u010diai\u201d on April 29 at 6:00 PM. During the event, the exhibition will be introduced by its curator, and visitors will have the opportunity to meet and engage in person with the local artists whose works are on display.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\/\/<\/p>\n

Walking through the Marku\u010diai district, one is struck by its contrasts. On one side, newly built high-rise apartments tower into the sky, and wooden shacks huddle next to them. The Vilnel\u0117 River marks the boundary between the city\u2019s asphalt and forest meadows. In this district, contrasts become a daily companion \u2014 they shape not only the environment but also our relationship with it.<\/p>\n

The exhibition \u201cThe Contrasts of Marku\u010diai\u201d invites visitors to explore these layers through the eyes of local creators. It features works by artists living in Marku\u010diai: watercolours by Irena Shu, photography by Kotryna Misi\u016bn\u0117, and paintings by Andrius Kvili\u016bnas. Irena works in the medical field and creates various techniques in her free time; Kotryna is a journalist and documentary photographer; Andrius is a painter and video artist. Although their work explores different themes and employs distinct visual languages, within the manor space they meet, creating new connections and meanings.<\/p>\n

In this exhibition, Marku\u010diai Manor reveals itself not only as a historical site but also as a living communal space. The museum is not a neutral backdrop \u2014 its architecture, interior, and natural light become an active part of the works, shaping the relationship between the artwork, the environment, and the viewer.<\/p>\n

The exhibition will be on view at the museum until June 30*. It can be visited during museum opening hours with an admission ticket:
