As you listen to Emilija Statinait\u0117 and \u017divil\u0117 Mackevi\u010di\u016bt\u0117, you\u2019ll understand why they were awarded the Saulius Mykolaitis Prize.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u017divile and I have been friends in music for over a year now, so that\u2019s why, for us, this concert is like a meeting where we share our songs, stories, and all that has happened over that time.We\u2019ll be singing songs born from the verses of Lithuanian male and female poets, sometimes intertwined with folk song motifs or dialects. I think this kind of music comes across the best when it\u2019s not performed on a grand stage, but where we can just be together \u2013 under the trees as a summer evening slowly winds down, when there are spaces for silence between songs.
