\u201cChristmas in the Capital\u201d \u2013 Vilnius\u2019s most prominent and most visited winter festival, inviting residents and visitors to immerse themselves in the festive atmosphere every year.<\/strong> From late November until Epiphany, the capital comes alive with Christmas spirit, festive events, winter activities and cosy moments. The festive atmosphere can be felt not only in the very heart of the city, but also in other locations across Vilnius.<\/p>\n

The annual \u201cChristmas in the Capital\u201d programme is carefully curated and stands out for its cherished traditions, high-quality cultural events, entertainment and educational activities for visitors of all ages. Everyone can find their own way to welcome the most wonderful time of the year \u2013 from strolling through the festively decorated Old Town to enjoying active winter activities.<\/p>\n

An essential part of the festival includes the Vilnius Christmas Tree in Cathedral Square, the Christmas Market, the Christmas Train, the Christmas Carousel and the \u201cVilnius Ice\u201d ice rink<\/strong>. Traditional festive experiences are enriched with new ideas every year, making the capital a popular destination for both Lithuanian residents and visitors from abroad.<\/p>\n

The Vilnius Christmas Tree in Cathedral Square attracts particular attention every year, serving as one of the city\u2019s most important symbols of the festive season. With a new look each year, the tree and the city\u2019s spectacular decorations create a special atmosphere and invite visitors to discover Vilnius in winter.<\/p>\n

In 2026, the festive season will begin on November 28<\/strong>, when the Christmas Tree will be lit in Cathedral Square, the Christmas Market and Christmas Carousel will open, and the Christmas Train will set off on its first journey. On November 29, the \u201cVilnius Ice\u201d ice rink will open in Town Hall Square, welcoming visitors until January 25, 2027.<\/p>\n

The festival is organised by Vilnius City Municipality and Vilnius Cultural Centre.<\/p>\n
