Vytautas Palaima. Scenography from the events cycle "Centenarians"

from 2011-12-08 to 2012-02-15


This exhibition is devoted to the commemoration of 100th year anniversary of Vytautas Palaimas. It features early scenographic sketches created by Vytautas Palaima under the effect of art deco for Augustinas Gricius-Pivoša comedy Palanga (1932), realistic scenographic sketches for Herman Heijermans play The Good Hope (1936), scenery for the longest-running play on the theatre repertoire Žaldokynė by Borisas Dauguvietis, (1948), landscape suffused with the spirit of the Lithuanian nation for Balys Dvarionas’ opera Dalia (1959), costume sketches painted in the national authentic colouring for Johan Strauss’ operate The Gypsy Baron, and other works created for theatres of Kaunas, Šiauliai, Klaipėda and Vilnius cities.
