International exhibition is dedicated to one of the most famous noble families of Grand Duchy of Lithuania – the knights Sapiegos. The exhibition is centered on the genealogy of the Sapiegos, their activity in the state running positions, their role of being patrons for art and education, their foundations and collections. The exhibition displays around 100 portraits of the Sapiegos’ relations and twice as much unique documents and books as well as the paintings, textile, graphics, goldsmithry articles and other works of art, arms and other historic relics belonging to the Sapiegos. The authentic exhibits covering XVI – XIX centuries and iconographic material reveal the outstanding achievements of the prominent members of this family for the artistic and cultural heritage of Lithuania, Poland and other Middle and Eastern European countries as well as for the development of Lithuanian statehood.
